Secret Machines
Hi moonies, Haven't been around here for some time due to access problems, which hopefully will soon be resolved. Anyway I really wanted to encourage any of you to check out Secret Machines live if you can. I saw them in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago and I can truly say it was one of the best live gigs I've ever been to. These guys are being toted around some parts of the media as "prog" but there are many influences involved , the prog ones being - Floyd, Can, psychedelia, Led Zep but many others also. The overwhelming feeling through the gig was that of power. TOTAL POWER! Not in a metal way but rhythmic power, controlled and sustained in an awesome blend of sounds - Saying that they did a beautiful cover of Bob Dylan's "North Country" which was very gentle - a 3 piece band that have really honed every aspect of their songwriting. Great lights too!
All I can say is as live gigs go this was a corker! Highly recommended. They have some US dates lined up - Fri April 21 Pittsburgh, PA USA Carnegie Mellon University / Fine Arts Quad SHOW DETAILS: TBA Sat April 22 Nashville, TN USA Vanderbilt Alumni Lawn SHOW DETAILS: with Ben Folds, Gov't Mule, Matt Pond PA Mon April 24 Fort Wayne, IN USA Allen County War Memorial Colesium SHOW DETAILS: with Dashboard Confessional / tickets $22.00 Wed April 26 New York, NY USA Hiro Ballroom SHOW DETAILS: special in-the-round performance / tickets $25.00 BUY TICKETS Sat August 5 Chicago, IL USA Lollapalooza 2006 SHOW DETAILS: TBA |
