Re: The Drive to 30,000

I think I just came up with a new tag line for Aural Moon in the promos.

Aural Moon: The Obsessive Rock Garden.

Whadya, think?

That's great

Let me know when you pull off the 5 or 6 in your folder...

I forgot how much you love Asia! "Who Will Stop the Rain?" is a great song, but it's Asia, so we'll never see it here.

Hey, I don't really care. I've only got the first one myself, and rarely play it.

Well, I don't know the "Who.....Rain" song, so "never" might not be accurate. I tried to like Asia, and toyed with the idea of adding "Cutting It Fine" from the first album - but that would be that graphic Vax posted about Christian apologetics. And for the record, why didn't a band with that talent ever make an INSTRUMENTAL (at least on the album or two I stuck it out for)?

(back to the thread's intent, gotta like 600 songs (more or less) added in the last two updates...)

Re: The Drive to 30,000

I got shipping confirmation from Amazon on the Niyaz and Varese CDs we discussed last week Jim so you should be getting them any time now if you haven't already.

Edit: Just looked and the Niyaz is already added! Thanks Jim!

niyaz - That's the Azam Ali led band right?

Just found out Karcius, Jack Foster, and some others are coming out with new material. I give up, can't keep up with it!

Asia would definitely become a RQ powerhouse. And there were some instrumentals in the non-Howe-non-Wetton era.

Yup it's Azam. Cool stuff IMHO, your ears will judge for themselves of course, I like Niyaz better than her solo stuff, but that's just me.

Well I did invite that! That's pretty funny.

Anyway if it weren't for me you'd be at 30k a month later

The only thing impressive about 5,000 posts is that very few are a result of the "Music Association Game" thread

My whole library of The Monkees and The Partridge Family are at you beck and call. Sorry, but you can't have The Archies.

I have also ordered a number of CDs from Amazon (more on that later) which should add a couple of hundred songs. About 2-3 weeks ago, I got obsessed with the idea of reaching 30,000 songs. Now, I have no idea, rationale, or sane reason why 30,000 is more significant than, say, 25,000, but humor me.

So, if you've been thinking about donating any CDs to the Moon, think about doing so now. Ditto if you know or are communicating with a worthy band, convince them to send us a promo CD. If you ARE a band or musician, contact me via PM and let's talk about adding your music (please make sure your efforts are suitably professional sounding, but by no means do you have to have a record deal).

Re: Amazon. You know those "buy" links whenever a song plays? Well, if you click on them and buy, Aural Moon gets a small portion of the sale price. I just found this out when Davin told me we had a few hundred dollars of credit with Amazon (hence the order I mentioned earlier!). So, IF you're planning on buying a CD that we have on the Moon, and IF Amazon's price is not unreasonable (they're USUALLY competitive, sometimes not on rare CDs or imports), please consider buying via an Aural Moon link. I can promise you that every penny that comes to Aural Moon through Amazon will go to buying more CDs for the Moon.

That's it, there's my latest confession of obsessive-compulsive behavior...
Sounds like a good idea. Are there any copywrite implications? I have dozens of CDs that I'd be willing to rip to mp3 and forward on to you, as long as it's OK with the music police :>)

FYI, when you hit 5000, the counter begins to decrement. It's the infamous P5K problem.

Copyright rules say that Aural Moon must have the actual disc so we cannot accept ripped copies. Thanks for offering...

Re: The Drive to 30,000

27,874 new total as of 8/1/08 and there are a few straggler CDs from Amazon due in, AND I accidentally ordered another dozen CDs from Synphonic. Oops...
