Since I am a huge fan of Soft Machine & the whole Canterbury Scene. I second that recommendation! Don't forget Volume Two, Fourth, Fifth, & some live releases.

Soft Machine
I third that motion to hear some Soft Machine. 7 is one of their lesser known efforts. Since I am a huge fan I will take any Soft Machine but 7 or 6 would be great.

I should tell the forum here that the band is back and reformed. It is ALan Holdsworth with John Marshall, Hugh Hopper and Elton Dean/ They have a new album out and now currently tour
