COTM - #238 - Magenta
People of the Aural Moon!
I hope you all enjoyed your holidays. Let's get back to some music. I have been in a Neo Prog mood so I have chosen Magenta as our featured artist this week. The group was pulled together in 2001 for what was supposed to be a one album project. That turned into a double concept album entitled Revolutions. In 2004, the group came together again and released a 2nd album. The theme of this album was the 7 deadly sins. A nice light subject. The album was titled Seven. This album will be the feature album for the show. I will fill out the show with a special Suite album they released with their CD Home. I don't believe it was released separately, but just a 2nd CD that was packaged with a special edition of Home. The Suite is "New York Suite." The group is led by the amazing talents of multi-instrumentalist Rob Reed, formerly of Cyan and Fyreworks. He teamed up with the enchanting Christina Murphy (now Christina Booth) as vocalist. After the initial project, which mainly included session musicians, Magenta formed a more permanent lineup with Tim Robinson (Percussion), Chris Fry (guitar), Martin Rossen (guitar) and Matthew Cohen (bass). I hope you can join us this week.
