The Drive to 30,000

OK, so I just added nine CDs to the playlist which brings the total number of songs on the Moon to a little over 27,100. I have also ordered a number of CDs from Amazon (more on that later) which should add a couple of hundred songs. About 2-3 weeks ago, I got obsessed with the idea of reaching 30,000 songs. Now, I have no idea, rationale, or sane reason why 30,000 is more significant than, say, 25,000, but humor me.

So, if you've been thinking about donating any CDs to the Moon, think about doing so now. Ditto if you know or are communicating with a worthy band, convince them to send us a promo CD. If you ARE a band or musician, contact me via PM and let's talk about adding your music (please make sure your efforts are suitably professional sounding, but by no means do you have to have a record deal).

Re: Amazon. You know those "buy" links whenever a song plays? Well, if you click on them and buy, Aural Moon gets a small portion of the sale price. I just found this out when Davin told me we had a few hundred dollars of credit with Amazon (hence the order I mentioned earlier!). So, IF you're planning on buying a CD that we have on the Moon, and IF Amazon's price is not unreasonable (they're USUALLY competitive, sometimes not on rare CDs or imports), please consider buying via an Aural Moon link. I can promise you that every penny that comes to Aural Moon through Amazon will go to buying more CDs for the Moon.

That's it, there's my latest confession of obsessive-compulsive behavior...

I'd had a stack of CDs about 2' high ripped and uploaded, but I deleted them to give space back to the station.

I never knew about them or I'm sure a majority of them would be added. I don't suppose you still have the digital files available that you could re-upload?

They sat in my VAX folder for quite some time and I did tell you about them.

I believe M *may* still have all the files on her Mac. She took the time to rip them all in 192Kbps MP3.

The PF Early Singles are there now as was Pulse which I've since deleted because you added it.

Re: The Drive to 30,000

re: "Best of Asia", yes there is such a beast, it's called a blank CD-R.
re: "Yessongs" I own it and have ripped it
re: Vax telling me about the ripped CDs, probably, I just remember you telling me that you had a stack of CDs TO rip, but the mistake is probably mine...
I have Nick Drake, no need to buy for me

And Dale, I should have figured out a way to make this thread invisible to you...

Re: The Drive to 30,000

Jim,

Have you heard of the Vinyl Kings? They are beatlesque. You might check them out:

http://www.vinylkings.com/

They have 2 cd's out "A Little Trip" and "Time Machine".

They'd be a good addition to the Moon. I know Ramsgate really recommends them too!

Regards from Texas,
Ted

No need to keep it invisible. I think I'll just throw down the gauntlet along with you. I know everyone else will help you fulfill your destiny.

But I might have a few more....... um suggestions.

Re: The Drive to 30,000

I had a thought. Why not publish (in this thread) a new weekly total to help reach your goal.

My personal collection just reached 22,743 tracks. (not all prog, however.) Anyone want to help me get to 25,000.

Grand idea - total as of 7/26/08 - 27,443.

What do you need? I must owe you at least a couple of CDs...
