Hawkwind Postpone US Tour Over Brock Stress Hawkwind say they’ve been forced to postponed their planned US tour after mainman Dave Brock was diagnosed with stress as a result of Nik Turner’s attempts to register the band name.

The former member reactivated his legal bid to become owner of the title ‘Nik Turner’s Hawkwind’ last month, just days after Brock was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Prog Awards.

That led to the space-rock outfit’s only remaining founding member falling ill, culminating in the decision to put back the band’s first North American tour in decades, which was due to begin on October 9.

Hawkwind say in a statement: “Doctors have confirmed Dave’s condition is stress related, aggravated by the trademark dispute in the United States which could result in years of litigation.

“He’s been been advised that it could be dangerous to his health to embark on a gruelling 14,000-mile tour at this time. The members of the band have reluctantly decided it is necessary to reschedule the dates to March 2014, rather than putting Dave’s health at unnecessary risk.”

They admit they’re “totally gutted” to have made the change. New dates will be announced for each venue in due course.
