Marillion To Play Legendary Fairport Convention Fest! Marillion and Al Stewart join Chas & Dave in the first acts to be announced for Fairport Convention’s legendary Cropredy Festival next August.

Renowned as being the UK’s friendliest little festival, and holding up to 20,000 in its picturesque rural setting, Cropredy’s online box office will open on 8 December and tickets will be on sale until 18 December to guarantee pre-Christmas postal delivery to UK addresses.

The three-day event takes place annually with 2014′s dates being Thursday 7, Friday 8 and Saturday 9 August.

This year the organisers have had Christmas in mind for festi-fans.

“A lot of our festival-goers like to give Cropredy tickets as Christmas presents,” says Festival Director Gareth Williams, “so we’re putting tickets on sale for a limited period in December. And as a bonus, every pack of tickets sent out in December will include a specially designed Christmas card signed by all five members of Fairport Convention.”

Three-day tickets cost £110; two-day (Friday and Saturday) tickets cost £100; and Saturday-only tickets cost £70 (this Saturday-only price has been held for three years). Tickets are exclusively available from Fairport Convention’s website:

The full line-up of artists appearing at next year’s Fairport’s Cropredy Convention will be announced in January 2014.

Rockney lads Chas & Dave will be making their first appearance at Cropredy on Friday 8 August with Marillion playing on Saturday 9 August. Prog spotted Steve Hogarth at the fest this year; he’d clearly had such a good time that he couldn’t wait to get the rest of the lads involved.

Singer-songwriter Al Stewart will appear on Saturday 9 August.

Each act gets a full 90-minute set, with many joining Fairport for their star-studded finale on the Saturday night.

Next year should be a corker!
