NEW FORUM RULEZ! Pictures of this nature must be accompanied by a caveat!

I'm now going back to cleaning my lunch, which I ate an hour ago, off of my Powerbook.

Good idea, I was vacillating about posting it. But I figured Poda would get a chuckle....

Sounds like a Power Lunch!

The question of the weekend in Montreal was "Where oh where was Fritha?" Fritha never contacted us or met up at breakfast, so we have no photo record of his presense.

But I did catch up with Mr. Oblivious and his sister Jennifer, as well as Sean.

Attached are pictures.

Here is a picture of the motly crew from Hillionaire Weekend in Lebanon, Tennessee. We had a great time hanging with the guys and families of Salem Hill and meeting the band Glass Hammer that showed up to listen on Saturday as well. 8-)

What a great picture. Bryan, Scott and TJ are regulars at Progday and have become great friends. Should be seeing them at Rosfest or Nearfest.

I'll write more at some point, still in Ohio, very busy. Show was all of "Catatonia", plus Apollyon, Riding the Fence, The Great Steropticon, Evil One, another off Not Eveybody's Gold, and a GREAT new song. Jeff took a pic of the set list so I'll post it at some point. The show was Fri at 8 PM and an encore Sat at 2 PM...and dinner at Carl Groves' house on Sat PM. Wonderful time, even better than the last time.

I've said this before - There are many musicians that have listened to Aural Moon. Many of these both you and Jim have met. Example: Steve Katsikas and Rik Biagi from Little Atlas. Both were in the shout box during my show before, and many others such as Glenn McLaughlin and Dennis Mullin from Iluvatar have been on. And we've met them. Dave Kulju may be the latest.

Anton Roolaart was included as a "Moonie" on the vax list, so I guess Clive Nolan is fair game on the Jim list.

This thread is wonderful for posting pics of listeners, telling little stories of meeting friends. But I just don't see the value in listing who we've met. I know no one wants to read a list of who I've met.

that's just my opinion - nothing else intended.

Greetings Moonies,

My family & I just got back from a 2 week trek through South Dakota. We camped in Custer State Park (west end of SD). While there we saw Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monuments - Mt Rushmore jpg.

More amazing was the wildlife - they have a Buffalo herd (about 1500 strong) that live there. My daughter got some great photos - Buffalo jpg. :jawdrop:

Then we went to the eastern part of the state - to visit DeSmet and see a play about Laura Ingalls Wilder - and then over to Walnut Grove, MN for the same thing. :hrm:

Heading back to Texas, we stopped in Topeka and visited with Barry - aka Ramsgate - jpgs of Ted and Barry - Barry Ted at Barry's Home & at Lake Shannee.

Also while there Barry & his lovely wife, Tanya, showed us around the Kansas state capitol building. Here is Barry in his natural enviroment - Barry Natural jpg - Barry is a wonderful photographer - and a natural teacher - he gave our daughter - who is very interested in photography - lots of great information and pointers about photography. We had a wonderful visit. :D

If you are ever in Topeka - make sure you link up with Barry - aka Ramsgate - he is a GRACIOUS host!

It's good to be back home!!

Regards from Texas,
Ted

Last weekend, at the RTF show, my list of Moonies met increased after meeting dangerboy and his friend TJ. I am now up to 3.

Also, my son,who is 13, has requested to be registered on the Moon. He is 'Guitar Hero!'. He said he was ready to be a 'Moonie'. I guess since he has been to see all of the shows that I have seen over the past few years, except for Speechless and Gongzilla, he qualifies for a place on the Moon.

Moonies,

Chris Teer (Teerminator) and I met up at the Heart of Texas (HOT) Corvair show at the Hill Country Gallaria in Bee Cave, TX (outside of Austin, TX) today. My wife (Carol) and I drove over and visited with Chris. He was picked last night to be one of the judges for the event - so we didn't have a lot of time to talk - but we enjoyed each others company and had a good time. We got to see Chris' red Corvair convertible. It was fun to be with Chris and hear about his passion - he owns two Corvairs - one for 25 years. Below are some pictures of our time their.

The pictures:
1) Ted Neil & Chris Teer, 2) Carol Neil (Ted's Wife) and her favorite - a purple Corvair, 3) Chris' Corvair - Interior, 4) Chris' Corvair - Engine, and 5) Ted in front of Chris' Red Corvair convertible.

For all that - it is still a pretty cool car...

I appreciate Chris sharing his love of the Corvair with us - and inviting us along... and best of all - meeting up with another Moonie...

VAX,

Yes, that is correct - back in summer of '08 (I think). I should have phrased it "meet up again" - thanks for reminding me!!

Notmally, after you "ATTACH" the image, you can go back into the attachment function to "manage" the attachments.

Typically, [ ATTACH ] attachment-ID [ /ATTACH ] will do it. However, I edited your post and it may be that your upload is too large for presentation in the alloted space in the forum. I'll bet one half the size will display.

Heart of Texas Covair Car Show, Burnet, Texas, April 18th. He drove from Oklahoma in his Purple 1964 Covair. He judged, and visited with Ted (Texas Ted) and his wife Carol for a couple of hours. Fun was had by all!

Thanks to Chris for inviting us to visit!

Chris,

I just looked back at our first meeting and the picture you posted from 2007, and looked again at the picture from this year's covair show - you are getting a bit more grey in your hair color...

Not that I can talk, with my white beard, but I am getting greyer on top as well....

I've known Jim for ~10 years now. We have exchanged many emails and we chat most every day but I've only "spoken" to him once on a brief phone call.
It was a unique experience to finally physically meet (and talk to) him.
Unfortunately his trip started with a 5 hour flight delay followed by lost luggage and passport and a less than helpful airline and US Consulate Office.
And then the New York Rangers lost to the Winnipeg Jets :).

His lost things were thankfully found and returned. We got out for a bit of sightseeing before coming over for supper on Saturday.
Timber was supplied with ample treats and he mostly warmed up to him (except when Jim left the room on his own, then there was concern!).
My wife Sharon cooked us a delicious roast beef dinner and we had apple pie and ice cream for dessert followed by a too short visit because Jim had a 6am flight home.
Jim brought the flowers you see in the background.

I told JIM that AM has made for some of us something huge, beyond the pure music, which by itself is already a huge huge thing (I speak for me and a few ones that shared it with me this through the years)
I see these pictures and I only can say happy for both of you, I know the connection,,,and happy for all the community in this place.

Thank you very very much amigo ART !
The first one is my sweet Pedrita and our progdirjim of course;
the following picture is another Jim s new 'chilean friend'
Now,,, us and my good friends : to the left of Jim is German Vergara,,band leader of Aisles; to my left a great piano player ,Sergio aka 'wrongchord' which is totally false,,immensely talented; and front us Francisco.
Aisles and Francisco are in library.
The last one,,well,,your moonfriends of course in the tasting room of a well known vineyard; Jim enjoyed a lot that place. Great connoisseur of course. I dont drink wine so I assume it was fine for my friend. It was a nice time.

This was a great picture, and when Luis calls MARIO on the phone, the contact name shows up as "Palau" - spanish for bald.

I did post many pictures on Facebook, including this one and I mentioned that at this point in the trip, I think my last night, I was speaking spanish as well as I can, Luis was speaking some english, and we had a pretty good conversation without MARIO having to translate. Great fun!

mariocc
01-07-2023, 09:36 AM
ahh yesssss "Palau"...well actually it is chilean slang
The 'right slang' way is "Pelao"....which is a deformation of the correct way to write it : "PelaDo"...
"ADO" ending in spanish verbs is the past perfect,,like EAT-EATEN and chilean spanish doesn t pronounce the "D".

Now,,, 'Pelado' is the past perfect of 'To Peel' ,,so the meaning is related to my good friend s head....no hair.
Nicknames and metaphorical references are extremely popular in SA; Chilean and Argentineans probably are the top 2. And regarding the pronunciation ,,both are the worst spanish in my opinion.

So JIM was amazingly well dealing with this weird spanish.
