Here is a collection of some pix of me with other moonies. It has been a real pleasure to meet face to face with many of the people on the moon. I've also met Steve (Caylx1) and Dave (Dekhands) but I have no pix with either of these moonies.

This is a second attempt - the first went into space
Meeting Vax, Jam and KW at a gig was the highlight for me this summer and I'm ready to repeat.
I've already made a suggestion to Lotus.
And if there's an AM convention in conjunction with a NEARfest in the USA og likewise I would come if the other half would agree. It would be costly but it will be worth it.

I'm off to the south of England once again. This time of the year it's Marillion Weekend. This one is being held back at the Butlins in Minehead, the same place that the 2003 Marillion Weekend was held.
I hope to meet up with JamForte, Laxmi and KeithieW again. We all had a great time when Martha and I were over in July 2004. I just hope that my miserable little brats will behave themselves.
My itinerary is posted at http://www.tmesis.com/UK/itinerary.txt
I hope to update it along the way to fill in "The Wind Paves The Way" portion.
Santa was good to Martha and brought her a new Canon EOS 20D digital SLR for Christmas. I'll try to update the /UK page with pix as we get them, provided I can find high-speed wireless to ride to do the web site updates.

Lawyers, the NJEA (New Jersey Extortion Assoc.) and DYFS (Dept. of Youth Fascist Supremacy) are to blame. Schools have gone down the toilet because you can't discipline the kids without having one of more of these aforementioned entities interfering. The schools teach them from the get go that they should cry "DYFS" if mummy or daddy or teacher hurt them; thus, empowering the children and disenfranchising the parents and other authority figures (as you've witnessed in that cell phone video).

I'm jealous, vax! Those are the same flights I took in Oct/Nov.
This will be a great and eye opening time for the kids. They might even thank you one day.
Take face masks for the flights...those throwaway paper things dentists wear...so that you don't have to spend two weeks in bed for all the wrong reasons, and get better just in time for the flight home.
Give Keithie, L and Jam a squeeze the stuffing out hug for us. No RMortis this time?

I'm not taking them because I want to... I'm taking them because I have to. Nobody wants to sit my miserables; especially, the bwitch.
Besides, all but Kevin have already been there. Then didn't appreciate it then and I doubt that they will this time save for Kevin.

Quick Update.
The Marillion Weekend is over. 'Twas fantastic. Over 800 photos and many are superb (as many who have seen them have told me). I think they could be better but this was a learning experience with a new camera and lens. They are what they are and I'll post them as soon as I can find some decent high speed internet. My guess, however, is that I may need to wait until I am home since I have many several GBs of photos.
I am presently sitting in Jam's "studio". Got some pix of that too.
Jam is now driving my wife, son and daughter to a local hotel. He can't fit all of us into his car at one time so he is making two trips. Both he and Laxmi have been very gracious seeing as how we dropped in virtually unannounced as my daughter :( talked away all of our mobile minutes and didn't inform us until we were well enroute to pay a call on Jam.
Daughter (bwitch) has been a royal PITA. She is begging to have us send her home early. She just doesn't understand that changing the flight arrangements we presently have is going to be difficult. Personally, I wish she would have simply stayed home and destroyed the house with some teen party bash than to tag along. Made my first eve of the Marllion Weekend less than enjoyable and that was the gig were Marbles was to be played in its entirety. She has to sometime realize that paybacks are a bitch.
Anyway, don't want to depress you with my woes. Just wanted to say where things stand in the trip.

It's half 8 in the morning and I'm sitting here in the Coffee Republic shoppe on St. George's Street in Oxford awaiting the opening of the Jessops Photo Shoppe just down the street.
Had a blast during the Marillion weekend. Took some 800 pix and even managed to get the band to give us a photo pass for the Sunday night so Martha and I sat in the photo pit in front of the rail. Beat the shit outta queueing in the cold for hours hoping to get a front row vantage point. Made many new friends from around the world and event ran into a few old friends like the fellow from Cyprus that we met at the Astoria gigs in July.
We left on Monday headed south and east to visit Jam and Laxmi. On the way from Butlins to Taunton where we were to get our train, the coach broke down. That threw the proverbial wrench into the works. Anyway, by the time we reached Romsey (where Jam&Laxmi reside) it was about 6 in the evening. Jam found us lodging at a very nice hotel/B&B and went out of the way to accomodate us considering that the brats were most definitely on their VERY WORST behaviour. We went to dinner at an Indian Restaurant (Naz) and, in keeping with their bad form, the brats were completely disrespectful and rude. Very embarrassing. So much so that I called and changed the bwitch's flight to send her home early.
Laxmi went to work on Tuesday and Jam showed us about Romsey.
When Laxmi returned from work, we walked to the train station and bid them farewell. Off to Oxford.
We've spent 3 nights here in Oxford taking day trips out (Blenheim Palace, Windsor Palace,etc.). We also put the bwitch on the train back to London from here so she could go home.
That's it up to the minute. Off to London and hope to meet up with Keith (and Pam???) this evening. The other 3 bratties can spend the evening in their hotel room since there's not much they can do if they tag along. These brits are smart about one thing: no little bastards allowed in the pubs. Makes them (the pubs) such nice places to hide.
In addition, it looks like I lost yet another CPU fan on my main server. Looks like the environmental monitor shut it down. No way to update with pix until I get back home.

It was great to see Vax and Martha again and to meet the µVaxes...
It's funny (peculiar) that meeting people from here one just seems to fall into conversation - no awkward silences or "this person isn't what I expected" ... great!!!! ...
µbrats? .... hrm... I suppose that teenagers are teenagers .. ;) this seems to be quite universal ... (at least in the countries I've visited)... and Kevin was lots of fun :) (P.S. we've got his self-made-map if he wonders where it is - in case of persistent request it could be scanned and sent ;) )
... will be looking forward to a more pub/gig oriented meeting sometime in the future though :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Sadly, can't make the London meeting tonight - Laxmi is away visiting her sis and I'm not in a position to get into town .. :( :(
Good luck, happy travelling and look forward to the next moonie-meeting..

Met up with VAX, Martha and their 3 boys last night and had a great time. I arrived at their Hotel and parked my bum in a chair in the piano bar. Ordered myself a large glass of Fleurie (delicious!!) and chatted to the very pretty piano player. I was just about to ask her for her phone number when I remembered that it was the VAXites I was visiting so I called and within minutes they arrived.
It was great to see them again and just as good to meet the lads. Kevin seems to be really interested in vacuum cleaners and maps  . He is definitely well on the way to being a proghead :)
After a few rounds we headed off to a pub and had a meal of Bangers and Mash washed down with copious amounts of the Black Nectar. I had to do my impression of a London Underground station announcer for Kevin. He seemed to enjoy that but the people on the next table kept looking at me as if I had three heads. Some of us brits have no sense of humour it seems.
More Guiness flowed and Kevin got tired so Martha took the boys back to the hotel and joined us again later. VAX and I decided that the (c)Rap music was doing our brains in so when Martha got back we headed off to another, quieter, pub. Much better!!!! More Nigerian Lager flowed and much laughter. It's amazing how people can get on. I love it.
Walked the pair of them back to the hotel and decided that "the road" wanted another drink. Ordered a couple of pints and another Fleurie for me but Martha didn't get to drink hers as son Christopher decided that he was going to have it.
Everyone was a little tired by now so we decided to call it a day. VAX, Christopher and Martha went up to their room and I staggered over to Victoria station and got a taxi home.
Just want to say "Thanks" to VAX, Martha and the lads. I had a great evening and I look forward to seeing you all again. Bless you.

Last year we commuted back and forth each day. Add about 1.5-2 hours on the beginning and end of each of three days. I *WAS* tired. This year we stayed in the hotel but I was still up until nearly 4am every day doing picture uploads and at the venue at least .5 hour before scheduled first act showtimes.
If anything, it was my chest cold (walking pneumonia by chest Xray I had on Wednesday -- you should see the golf ball sized anibiotics that I now have to take) and the filthy cigaratte smoke in the bar. RoS is the Rites of Spring festival not the Right to Smoke festival.

I finally got to meet Thor at the Marillion acoustic gig at the Paradise in Boston. It was a long drive there and back (damn, too much road construction everywhere nearly doubled the commute time) but well worth it. The gig was better than in NYC the night before and I met Thor and our old friend Ian (not a moonie) there.

I can't speak for Nadina (mar'13662) but Martha and I had a wonderful time with both her and Chris (T8R) in SF. We walked and walked and walked all over SF -- I figure about 15 miles worth.
Marillion (the band) invited Martha and myself to the after-party. I asked if both Nadina and Chris could come along and they obliged. I think it was a really special end to a really special and fun weekend. The saddest part is that it ended. I'd do it all over again save for maybe the walk by the fish market.

Well I don't feel so happy about it today..my brother had a party and had shrimp, crabs, and fish and cake and.....
Then I went to see an old friend turn 40 and had meals again... and beer. I gained six back:(
Anyway....sorry father kirk for the confessional...here's how...
1) I'm home on Mondays, so I cook my lunch for the week. I make chicken or meat and mix it with a vegetable and rice. Bland, but I'm a bland guy. I also eat a salad with fruit. I have this affinity for "filled" crackers and trail mix, which I also eat. I think I'm eating too much for lunch as of late, but it saves me from fast food or eating on the run. I work at three part-time jobs, so I don't want to worry about going out to eat.
2) Cutting down. I have this self-control issue....I am very measured and organized, yet I am impulsive and don't have a good rein on my self-control. So I used to eat everything I see. I just eat less now.
3) Running. I don't do weights (it would aggravate my chest wall issues, which of late have been a lot better), so I get out as soon as I wake up and go a mile and a half (run 1/2 walk 1/2) four times a week. I'm done by 6:45.
4) Sodas....out. I used to love a Pepsi and ice cream at 10:30 at night. No more. I've been slacking a bit of late on the late snack, but it's not too bad. I was only drinking diet Ginger Ale for a while, but have since switched to root beer or diet soda. The problem with that is that there's more sugar in them than a Partidge Family tune, but total abstinence would be too hard to maintain, so I expand it a bit. But definitely no more regular soda...I think that's a major factor.
5) Losing the weight was quick, but gaining back the weight is a fear. So I've been indulging in the occasional milk shake or dessert, so I'll be less inclined to say fuck it this is too hard.
Basically I just got pissed off at myself and tried those things without an outside plan.
Thanks for asking....
:)

Seriously, the carbs in the rice... give 'em up! Fruit... lots of carb. Trail mix... more carbs and fats too (there are nuts in your mix?).

Soft drinks are evil... Look at some of these numbers:
Sugars Content of Carbonated Non-Diet Soft Drinks / Sugars grams per 12 fl. oz (360 mL)
Minute Maid Orange Soda (Coca-Cola Co.) / 48
Mountain Dew (PepsiCo) / 46
Pepsi / 41
Dr Pepper (Cadbury Schweppes) / 40
Coca-Cola Classic / 39
7Up (Cadbury Schweppes) / 39
Sprite (Coca-Cola Co.) / 38
For comparison, 40 grams of sugar is 10 teaspoons! That's gross!
Calorie Content of Carbonated Non-Diet Soft Drinks / Calories per 12 fl. oz (360 mL)
Minute Maid Orange Soda (Coca-Cola Co.) / 180
Mountain Dew (PepsiCo) / 165
Dr Pepper (Cadbury Schweppes) / 160
Pepsi / 150
Coca-Cola Classic / 140
Sprite (Coca-Cola Co.) / 140
7Up (Cadbury Schweppes) / 140
For comparision, a *pint* of Guinness is 125 calories.
i second that soft drinks statement.
besides sugar/carbo loading, you're treating your
insides to an acid bath. if you want to swear off,
it's easy to gross yourself out~
place a small piece of beef in a glass of cola.
2 days later, the meat's 100% dissolved.
pennies take about 2 weeks.
try substituting roasted almonds for your trail mix.
they're a protein, and recent studies show they
lower cholesterol. observe portions, don't overdo it.
try things like fat free ryecrisps and organic almond butter
for a more nutritious version of filled crackers.
the main thing is, don't beat yourself up for an
occassional slip. it took years to put the weight on,
it takes time to adjust the habits.

Yawn city! What's a Moonie anyway? Do we count those who have listened just a few times? Musicians? Groupies? Maybe I'll pump in Aural Moon at the Hillionaire's weekend to get a few hundred more... (on a serious note I like the way word is getting around about this humble station...)
I think logistically Rosfest wouldn't be feasible for an event like that on a lot of levels. But it remains a great idea.

after many travels and not much time, I was very unconcerned about the pic quality. It's a miracle Moses got that done at all!
Can anyone name the band on my sweatshirt?
Thanks Moses for putting me up. Listening to Pittsburgh radio and fighting the morning rush hour traffic, then the heavy snow (yes snow!) and the trucks on the Parkway was all worth it. Doing 70 in the elements is not to be repeated.
Chatting on the Moon with dueling computers was surreal...

It was a real treat to meet you, Jim, and R. My only regret about the whole thing was that we didn't have more time. How was the private box?
I agree, Tom Griesgraber is a one talented musician (GrIse-grAber, long I and A, not grease-grabber as I thought :-\ ) What an instrument that stick is. My fave piece of his was the "Jungle". Amazing. Phil talked to him and bought all three cd's - the solo effort and two by Agent 22. Looking forward to giving them a listen. Website for anyone interested: http://www.thossounds.com/tomgriesgraber.html
It was worth that long drive to Santa Ana and back in one day just to hear Steve and co. do the bits from Acolyte. When they started Hands of The Priestess, Part II, I thought I was going to pass out. Alot of pieces from the Bay of Kings too...really nice. (I'll defer to Jim and his excellent reviewing abilities at this point)
Concert ended at what...midnight? So we started the trek back to LV because Phil had to work the next day. Missed the turn and ended up driving down the road to San Diego! Got on the right track back at Oceanside but it added alot of time to the trip. Finally rolled into LV at 7 am.
See you at the next southern left coast gig, Jim. Let's organize it better next time and do dinner too.

I'll second that! My brain was as "quisp" as that character on my infamous T shirt. The traversing of so many time zones -- EST to PST to GMT -- had me in quite a haze for the party but I managed to drink it to the end. That's Jeff Laramee, drummer and sometime singer for Sonus Umbra and Kurgan's Bane. Along with Luis Nasser, there's two that will give BTO a run for their money.
I showed up at a Bane show two months back wearing a shirt with the same pic as the tattoo (totally coincidental). Quite funny.....

Nadina, great pics! Rick, great pics on the Nearfest thread!
Thought it was funny that Nadina was standing next to a sign that said "black box" in one of Rick's shots.
Also, Jim switched t-shirts with his brother...that caused a few secs of confusion (doesn't take much)
This has to be the largest moonie presence ever. With the arrival next year of the European contingent, complete debauchery will ensue and as this sort of thing is up my alley, I'm going to put getting there at the top of my list.
Now....poda.....what say you to the trip.

Great pictures all! Improved by the fact that I'm not in most of them, I'm sure. Rick had to take that one and ruin the story I was going to make up that says I was there "in spirit only." Oh wait, Davin has another picture of me with a rather happy cookie. Maybe he won't post that one.

You've actually met many more than the people on this list...you just didn't know they are Moonies. I'd estimate there are at least 40-50 others who have listened that you've met..they just don't appear in the shoutbox that often.
Aural Moon is becoming well known in the prog community. Always be on the lookout for various artists dropping by for a listen. We've had members of Little Atlas, Salem Hill, John Goodsall, just to name a very few. On Monday, Johan from Violent Silence may pop in for a listen. As i play current artists, I'm alerting them to the airplay. Although music is often a difficult if not impossible way to make a living, they appreciate the support we all give.. in return for great music.
The promo sounds great...just don't play it as much as the Caamora one! :bash:

Im thinking of starting a Central Thread that allows Moonies to announce venues they will be at . By Posting these Show Dates, and Who may be in the same areas going to those shows. We could Stop Passing like ships in the Night
A Real Example:
I going to see the Beard in Hartford on Apr. 26th. Anybody else going to be around? Ill be sitting next to Neal in the Audience
Ill see who shoots the idea down first
Neal who?

We had a great time, brief that it was, together in NY. We met at my fave NYC watering hole Stout NYC (http://www.stoutNYC.com). Sampled several beers and ate some grub, and then we trudged up Broadway to B.B. King's for the Jon Anderson show. We got there just as they ran out of table space, so we were conscripted into the S.R.O. crowd next to the bar. A great gig with lots of classic Yes. Afterwards, we went back to Stout NYC and then parted ways for the evening.
Thanks Julie and Peter!
Of course, there's the quintessential group pic (http://tmesis.com/am/Moonies-001.jpg).

This will be a slow year for the big travel plans. I'll be at a lot of shows, but the plans of travelling great distances to see Moonies is on hold. I will be at Rosfest, Nearfest, Progday, and various smaller shows, but the remainder of the summer is family-related.
I'll finally get to meet Steady Stan, and we'll hit the disc links in April. Maybe some of the Florida Moonies can let me know how close to Orlando you are!
After meeting so many Moonies at shows the last few years (we're everywhere), and especially FINALLY meeting Poda and Keith, where is there to go? Oh yeah sharc, roger (vt), etc lol....maybe in the late fall...
Remember, everyone you turn on to Aural Moon is a Moonie...so spread the word!

Hope more of you come to ROSfest 2007 with Pendragon. See ya there.

I'm waiting for an official declaration of what constitues a Moonie. Seems to me that anyone who has ever posted, chatted, or listened is a Moonie.
So that means you can add at least 100 more vax.....including scores of musicians...and many of us can too.
Hope to meet a lot of the Southern contingent at Progday. There's a lot of us down there.....
I think my Poda pictures are either in a file on the computer or trapped in a camera, that I need to develop the cheap film, but have been waiting on the opportunity to take a picture of the stop sign the cop says I supposedly didn't stop for. (8-D

Well, you can stretch the definition all you want. To me, it is a person drawn to Aural Moon because he/she is looking for great music; then, sticks around and becomes a part of the daily community.
If you want to include the musicians we play here, sit back and be prepared to scroll through a long long long list of names; however, I don't believe they constitute "moonie" in the true spirit of our community.

No, no...agreed there...I mean the musicians who have registered in as listeners. Some of many include Dennis from Iluvatar, Rik and Steve from Little Atlas, etc., and of course John Goodsall, a one-time frequent contributor. Every once in a while they drop by and listen.
Also, there are many who do not contribute daily, or no longer contibute and just listen. J Nighting, Roger (VT), Dinosaur are infrequent yet "charter" Moonies. Stan no longer shouts...Maui Bass Player just re-apperared.
Yorksvc no longer shouts, but he hasn't lost his "Moonie" card yet...
And finally, there are those who have registered and sometimes listen but never shout. Steve Storey, a friend from Progday, is one such person (aka Dangerboy).
Pining for Mossy :)
I guess what I'm saying is that I like the thread (the pic you have of Museman for instance is priceless) but the lists are getting kind of nebulous.

Do we have to define what constitutes a Moonie? I think it's worked so far and we all know what we mean don't we? The purpose of the thread is to make lists and attach piccies to go along with the lists. I can list whoever would like to be listed, no prob at all.
Vax, we almost met at the airport that time but that was an ill fated trip on many fronts and nothing went right. Since I never go anywhere these days, I'm hoping there will a gig in Vegas which you absolutely HAVE to go to (because I know you wouldn't set foot otherwise).

Find yourself a couple of more of those "doctors" and you too could share the limelight with Anna Nicole Smith; albeit, I doubt you could fill out a 38DD as nicely. On second thought, steer clear of the doctors, I'd like to see you hang around here a while longer -- 38DDs or not.

All things considered, I'd rather not, especially considering her current biological state, 38DDs or no.
Besides, I may be able to fill out some 38DDs, given sufficient tissue paper, but I do NOT have the legs for an attack mini. Trust me on this.

Spent some quality time with erstwhile and future Moonie Steady Stan and Artemis (Diana) pretty much every waking moment from noonish Thursday to 3PM Friday. As soon as I figure out which cheapo cameras have what pictures, I'll post some of Stan resplendent in his wife-beater (a term he wasn't familiar with) and Diana, who changed from business attire to casual clothes faster than Clark Kent!
Stan gave me a tour of his work
http://www.tervis.com/
then proceeded to show me how far I need to go to become a really decent disc golfer. The man owns hundreds of discs and there is a story on each one! If I wasn't so enamored with the sport myself, I'd wonder if there wasn't something clinically wrong.
Diana is an excellent player too. The three of us played two full rounds and most of a third over two days. Friday was a treat, playing a round in Clearwater in the AM, visiting the best disc golf store on the planet (like there are some in space), having lunch out, and playing a great course in the afternoon. We had to cut that short because I had to beat the traffic out of Tampa, which was unsuccessful (only cost me 30 minutes). A killer course full of water (and alligators I was told), I did run into some good old boys from Maryland only one county over.
The night before we ate at an Oriental place, where we spent most of the meal trying to determine whether to keep my fish on fire, or smell aluminum foil all meal (Diana finally poured water on it...so smart).
They have a really cool house with some interesting backyard design...
Many other fun little stories, but that's plenty for now. The important thing is that I finally got to meet them (we were to meet Mark aka Atomic Rooster too, but he had work projects). I just spent 12 hours yesterday in the car and 4 Friday night, plus driving down last week and visiting both coasts of Florida.
Stan and Diana are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet (Mossy can vouch for that), and it was worth all of the driving. I sure hope to see them again soon.
Now back to the grind...at least until Rosfest.

Poda, from what I remember, you don't look anything like the picture you submitted for the old AM gallery; which, BTW, we should resurrect.
