Currently, we have streams for broadband users (56k), and modem users (24k). Are there different speeds you'd like to see on Aural Moon?

For instance, a 128k stream would provide almost CD-quality sound - but your connection would have to be up for it. In reality, if you would be able to listen to the 56k stream OK, the 128k stream shouldn't be a problem. Maybe if you had some slow ISDN line or something.

In the other direction, we could provide a real low-quality stream for those with bad modem connections. We could move down to 33k or even (gasp) 16k. Does anyone have these problems?

Discuss!

Yeah, it's hard to imagine what 128k would sound like, but imagine the quality of the stream essentially doubling.

When I tune into other 128k streams, it just blows me away essentially.

Hmmmmm

128kbps is probably 10x better sound quality than 56k, if you want a taste of 128k go to http://www.radioparadise.com, you'll see what I mean.

I would listen more if the bitrate were higher, 56k sounds muffled.

There's one other reason against 128k - it would be more money for us to operate a 128k server with the extra bandwidth it would take up.
