Overrequesting?
Greetings and salutations, ladies and gents!
Now that we've had a bit of time to let all the new changes to the station settle in, I'm of a mind that it's time to take a look at an old problem: IE, overrequesting. Specifically, as my current place of employment frowns upon such niceties as 'streaming audio' in favor of multi-megabyte sized powerpoint presentations that have all the useful information content of a modest sized portion of soggy oatmeal (and is just as pleasant to read), my access to the station has been, shall we say, a tad limited. Ah well, they pay the bills. Anyway, what's the poop? Are things still being overrequested? Has that problem largely abated? Are y'all, by and large, behaving yourselves to the point where I can reset the RQ limits to where they were back in the Good Olde Days(TM)? Comments? I'll keep an eye on things. Roger -Dot- Lee, No really! Quit laughing so hard, Rick, I really mean it!

Re: Overrequesting?
laugh? trying to figure out why....
Anyway, a question...are there looser request limits? The ones in place now seem to work fine, and seem to be quite fair. I'd hate to think there are easier request rules. A help would be to post them here and see what comments you get. I'm not sure everyone knows them (I know I don't know all of the rules). I'm still convinced things slip through, and I swore I heard "Aqualung" on consecutive days (that's a song that should never be requested lol)... The only thing I can think of is that certain songs will be requested over and over for a few weeks, then it's something else. Probably just the nature of things. |

Re: Overrequesting?
I would say overall things have been OK, but I am not in favor of relaxing any rules at this point. I don't think the rules are too restrictive...

Oh, I know what you mean... the bad songs come on too often and the good songs don't come on as much ; )

Re: Overrequesting?
As far as I can tell, it seems to be working for now. My only gripe is the same one I have had since it was started, Wednesday. But I can live with it. I still disagree with it, but I think I have bitched about that enough in the past. Nothing more need be said about that by me.
I have to say that I agree with Jim and MrMagoo!

Re: Overrequesting?
I actually skip Wednesdays at the Moon because of no requests.
![]() SAM as well as admin requests just don't do it for me........ |

Re: Overrequesting?
I'm not keen on Wednesdays either, but many folks appreciate them so I shut my trap most of the time.

Re: Overrequesting?
Same here. I prefer request times, but I think Wednesdays are a good thing, though.
Anyways, I think the overrequesting problem is now over. And there are lots of things I've never heard here playing these days, so I'm quite satisfied with the requests.

Re: Overrequesting?
I think that this problem that we had (13 time DK, 9 time TFK etc) comming all from one requester cheatring amateurwise our system, can erase anytime again. (Thanks again to Vax resolving this particular one).
In order not to have this prob again, I suggest to have rq only for members. In addition to that (but this is not so important, but funny so that we can blame him/her in shout... ![]() Regarding rules for requests they are fine for me, but should be explained somewhere on the rq page. And finally, I like RFW.

Re: Overrequesting?
So THAT'S why they aren't going through today.
As a newbie I should have read the rules. But hey that stinks, though I don't pay the bills here. But I'm with ya about skipping wednesdays too. OUT TIL TOMMORROW. |

Re: Overrequesting?
I was speaking last week to the Danish representative for MUSEA records who happens to be French and a progger and he gave the impression that he would listen to AM on Wednesdays to catch some of the more rarer music as he didn't care for the requests. So there are always two sides to a coin.

Re: Overrequesting?
OK, perhaps it's time to repost the SAM request rules.
Person-based rule: Each person (as restricted and identified by IP address) can request up to 10 times per day. Each request must be seperated by 60 minutes. Album-based rule: No two tracks from the same album can be played in the same hour. In other words, if a different song off of the same album has played within the same hour, the request will be denied. Artist based rule: No two songs from the same artist will be played within the same 120 minute (two hour) time frame. Title based rule: No two songs with the same title will be played within the same 480 minute (8 hour) time frame. The same track will not be played twice within the same 24 hour period. Examples: You want to request "Time and A Word" by Yes. If another track off of any other Yes album has played in the last hour, it will be denied. If another track off of Time And A Word has played in the last TWO hours, it will be denied. If another track by the name "Time And A Word" (say, off of Yes, Live at the Hollywood Bowl (if there were such a beastie) played in the last 8 hours, it would be denied. The same track will only play once per 2880 minutes (24 hours). Note: these apply to requested as well as SAM chosen songs or songs that are part of a show (provided the show isn't a single pre-recorded file (such as Fusion Reaction, Rickter Scale, etc., and unlike The Gagliarchives, etc)). Hope that clears up some confusion. And it looks like RQs are working just fine thanks! Roger -Dot- Lee, no reason to change...

So if, for example, The Elbertson Quintette's version of "Llama's Conquer All" will not preclude the playing of Gwendolyn St. Margarine's hit swingle(*) of the same name. So you should be cool. (*) Note: I did see the typo, but damn it I liked it better this way. So there. Roger -Dot- Lee, still spelling The City of Brotherly Love as Philadelpia for much the same reason.

Re: Overrequesting?
My dear friends, I want to say something...I donīt know the rules either, in my oppinion itīs nice this way.
For me, I think that we can know such good things on wednesday, I mean "new musics" who almost never have been heared. And thereīs a lot of good works hidden in the moon library! ![]() For example: Birdsongs of the Mesozoic... I actually donīt remember when I listened coming from someones request - that were all from the randomly radio setlist. About limit the requests, I donīt have some specific oppinion, but I donīt like the same artist or the same song being played like before, like that "Flower Kings" song. No ofenses, of course.
