Lacrimosa

After hearing excellent comments about the Swiss band Lacrimosa, I ended up getting two of their CD’s: Inferno (1995) and Stille (1997).

The music is Gothic Metal with strong classical influences. The lush arrangements, with the brilliant use of cello, violins, etc., make this stuff perfectly suitable for the Prog audience too. They sing in German, but translations of the lyrics into English are provided in the CD’s. Beautiful female vocals are also featured eventually.

Both the albums aforementioned are great, being Stille a little superior IMO. I’d highly recommend this one to start with.

Sound samples available at the band’s website, at this link:

Cheers.
