Hello, Hello! (!Hola!) I'm at a place called - oh, wait, wrong site...
I'm at a place called Aural Moon! (?Unde ta?)
It's the best prog community in web.

Welcome York (you mind if I just call you york?)!

I see you've found the forums. Surely you've found the requests. Check out the gallery on the left of the main page and you faces with names (or a foot with a name in my case). Send your picture into Roger.Lee and we'll play "Am I Hot or Not?"

You'll find so much music here you can never ever buy it all. See ye around.

Ok........"York" is good. Pics in the Gallery: My wife is hot and I'm not. My granddaughter is..........(sorry, braggin' like a grandpa)......THE BEST!!!! York Rd. : I grew up off of York Rd. in Govans. I'm familiar with it from Greenmount Ave. and on up into PA. The music thing: I only like prog metal that laden with keyboards. If it's thrash metal and screaming........it's WAY TOO MUCH for me. My Prog background is pretty extensive, as I worked in a Record Store (Towson Record & Tape COLECTORS) through most of the 70's and mid 80's. I feel very responsible for helping to break Genesis in the early 70's, in our area. I PUSHED the hell out their music and anything that came close to it. I was very heavy into European Import music. I also have a great collection of American / European Jazz-Rock Fusion. I can see this is going to be a time consuming place for me, as I'm supposed to be doing quarter end invoicing. Let me see........????.......Music?..........invoicing?.. ..............Music?...............invoicing?..... .........OH %#$, here comes my boss........ ....Just Kidding!!! I think it's............uh??.........MUSIC!!!!

I've probably seen you a hundred times I live about 8 miles from there (and my in-laws live about 3).....

speaking of York, that's where my son is going to college...

As for the breaking the Genesis in part, I'll take your word for it, I was about 8-10 years old. However, given the ass backwards attitude towards anything that didn't "rock, dude" in Baltimore, you deserve a medal!

As much as I bought from Record and Tape Trader, the best experience I had in a store was hearing Gamalon in the now defunct Record Theatre on Liberty Road. They had those little postage stamp tickets to collect (of course R&TT had the member cards too )

I think my most harrowing experience in a record store was in College Park, where I switched a $4.99 copy of Free Hand with the $.99 copy and almost got caught.. he played the record and stared at me the whole time..I don't make a good criminal I guess).

Watch out at work...you don't want to be billing an Eskimo for air conditiong!

you're probably right, about the path crossings. I worked in a store opposite the Towson movie theater, now the Recher Theater. We were Record and Tape Collector, which originated on Coldspring Lane in Roland Park. They expanded and collapsed, while R & T Trader kept on going and has survived the Best Buys and Circuit City attack. I remember when Record Theater opened. We thought it would drive us out of business. As for Genesis, I just meant I turned a lot of people on to them, with the Foxtrot Album. I was never a head banger, mainly because I couldn't stand the vocals and at that time, I was all into the jazz-rock fusion scene. In the early 90's I went country because I couldn't stand the new music out. Little did I know there was an underground world of music. I really thought the prog music was gone that's why I find this place GREAT!! It's like a breath of fresh air. I live near Whitemarsh Mall now, so I've been in Baltimore all but 2 years of my life.

How sweet......

Now I've got 2 Ravens fans for sport, I was at a Marillion show at Toads Place N.H. CT. Vax was there and I never knew it. When I was 10, my Grandparents took me across country. While checking in in Las Vegas, there stood a friend from down my street, Imposible and a small world all at once.
I too worked the Vynal from 75 to 85. One Sunday afternoon in an empty store, a young lady came in from the pub next door.
She liked Phil collins and was flirty. well..............After checking out the back room I found the meaning of hummer...

You weren't a moonie yet at that time. Too bad. I was the first one on the queue that day and spent time inside before the gig with the band.

At that gig, I was making my way back to the front of the stage (where my wife was positioned) with pints of Guinness when one of the people I passed said, "Hey, I know you!"... I looked at him bewildered. He said, "We met at Stonehenge." A small world indeed.

I was born and raised in Northern California.

Roger -Dot- Lee, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Nope. Northern Cal, like the San Francisco Bay Area.

hoo boy, you ain't kidding there. The people are nice to one another. The first day I was here, I was trying to merge. Someone actually let me in and I almost ran into a tree. Gas prices were halved. People actually held the doors open for those following them. They talk to one another. They have no problems rolling down the window to shout directions to someone who's lost. They don't seem to mind taking the time to do things the right way. They do good barbeque. They DO barbeque. Organizations that serve the poor will continue to rent space in a building they own to a for-profit business(*). If a church wants to put up a Nativity Scene at Christmas, they bloody well do it without having to listen to the complaints from people about how their 'Rights are being violated'(**). When a politician does something chowderheaded, they apologize for it(***). When a politician does something that goes against the grain of what their constituencies want, they usually come up with a good explanation as to WHY they did it that way or they do what they can to undo the damage(****).

Yeah. TOTAL culture clash.

(*) 2005. Roswell, Ga: Owner: Atlanta Homeless. Client: One Star BBQ. East Palo Alto California: Some homeless group whos name escapes me. Client: A BBQ place that was in business for over 20 years. Yes, they had to move. See www.sfgate.com, I believe, for details.

(**) Christmas 2004. Roswell, Ga: just about everywhere. Los Altos California, somewhere. Again, see SFGate for details. I believe there were protests involved. This one wouldn't have even registered in my radar had the scene not been ON CHURCH PROPERTY!!!!! I'm not religious by any stretch, but that's just going too far.

(***) Roswell, Ga: allowed permit for building of radio transmission tower. San Jose: countless thousands of examples.

(****) Roswell Ga: the transmission towers mentioned in the above footnote: upon hearing from neighbors, the permit was revoked on the recommendation of the councilman who made the original proposal. He honestly didn't think we'd kick up such a fuss. Yes, I said we. The tower was supposed to be about 300 yards from my property. San Jose: find one. I challenge you.

You might wish to pass this word of advice on to your granddaughter's parents (I have three girls myself, all in their adolescent years):

Medieval reproduction battle axe.

It works even better than a shotgun for some reason.

Roger -Dot- Lee, knows from experience.
