Re: A UK Prog Festival!!!!!!!

MM,

Not sure what you like etc...

Strangefish is a stew of Genesis, Echolyn, IQ, Gentle Giant, thrown together in accesible prog music. I like it because it rocks and they use sounds from great bands without being derivative. The first CD has longer pieces (and more enjoyable) and the second is thematically linked and repeats a bit but is also stellar.

If you are not familiar with the Flower Kings you will love them. I like them all, bear in mind they are a bit different now and jazzier. And there's too much to explain lol...

There's an outside chance I'll show up. BUT, having seen Flamborough Head at Baja Prog, I strongly recommend not missing them. Not the most original sound (hints of Renaissance), but solid and enjoyable.

There's a link to the festival, pictures of Heather Findlay and Christina (and a last name too)!

And what the Sam Hill is Cheese Rolling?

Here's a few pics. I'll write a proper review with tales of drunkeness, Rick almost getting killed by a drunken idiot in a silly hat and much more.

Re: A UK Prog Festival!!!!!!!

For some reason, I told them I was working tomorrow, we don't have enough food, laundry needs attention, and I have many things to catch up on.

Many tales of band meetings, England transportation (I had some challenges today), fun times, and of course a full review of the bands. I think you'll find some of my comments surprising.

And of course a thank you to Keith, Rogor, and vax for making me comfortable in a place out of my element. Living out of a suitcase with two men can be interesting.

Much more later. My body days it's almost 1AM but can't rest now.

Rick

Save for perhaps getting lost in LHR trying to find your luggage, I knew you were in good hands with Keith and would get up to the gig.

I was concerned for your return though. I lent Thor my mobile back in January when we were there for Keith b'day party. It came in handy for his trek down to Iain and Laxmi's. We were so pressed for time all this past weekend thought that we never had time to renew the SIM card for it. I wanted to leave you with it as I know how UK transportation can be. Anyway, happy you made it home.

You need to go over for some other gigs and check out London. It's lots of fun learning the Undergound.
