City Boy
Maybe City Boy could make it to your lists -- varied, skilled, albeit a bit "poppy". First five albums I think are the better, e.g. Book Early, Dinner At the Ritz, Young Men Gone West. Or maybe I should put City Boy under the Guilty Pleasures

Re: City Boy
I agree, in the 70's City Boy was my favourite band for several years! It just irks me that people haven't heard of them. We played "Haymaking Time" at our wedding

I think the Cd's are hard to come by...sometimes poorly remastered and usaully pretty pricey... "Cigarettes that you leave unlit Just a trace of lipstick on a filter tip Cigarettes that you leave unlit, You'd better smoke it, Before you choke on it."

Some good stuff, I played a bit on the show, but it's probably a touch to "unprog" for the Moon. I'll try to sneak some in every so often. It's always good to read about bands like this that people have fond memories of. |

Re: City Boy
I think last march i heard City Boy on Aural Moon, not sure who was playing them but you played the first 2 albums "City Boy" and "Dinner at The Ritz" I was thrilled to hear it! I think they are proggy enough! : )

Re: City Boy
The song "The Day the Earth Caught Fire"--from the album of the same name--is quite progressive and would fit perfectly on AuralMoon. I don't know about the rest of the album, since I've never heard it.
Also, "Haymaking Time" and "Five Thousand Years/Don't Know Can't Tell"--both from the first album--would fit. |

Re: City Boy
I never heard City Boy back in the day but that youtube video sounds like Supertramp to me, so at least that tune is proggy enough for the Moon.

Re: City Boy
I recently purchased "Anthology." It was released in 2004 by Discs Online LLC (Resaissance Records) and the quality is quite good.
The track list: 1. 5-7-0-5 2. I've Been Spun 3. (Moonlight) Shake My Head And Leave 4. Dinner At the Ritz 5. Day the Earth Caught Fire, The 6. Heads Are Rolling 7. Beth 8. Hap-Ki-Do-Kid 9. Bad For Business 10. Modern Love Affairs 11. She's Got a Style 12. Need a Little Loving 13. What a Night 14. Surgery Hours (Doctor Doctor) 15. Goodbye Blue Monday 16. New York Times 17. You're Leaving Me 18. Young Men Gone West too bad... Oddball Dance and Cigarettes were omitted, but a fine piece of art rock history just the same....and affordable...Amazon and CD Universe, both around 13 bucks each...highly recommended!
