Non-musical subjects

I don't know if this has been done in the forum in the past, but I've got a suggestion...

Would it be feasible and relevant to start a forum sub-category dealing with non-musical topics?

While we all come to the moon for one primary reason, the outstanding progressive rock music, there are times when the shout box just doesn't provide the time, space or surroundings for certain types of conversation. I've found for me personally that it often gets crowded with multiple conversations that are really hard to decipher.

There are many passionate, informed moonies who come here and this might be a way to enhance everyone's experience.

Just a thought and thanks for listenin'...

I find that most of the conversation in the forums usually concern non-musical topics.

However, I'm for such a forum. But truthfully, the forums are in need of revamping. Sticky threads should not really be used unless thay concern individual show folders. The only sticky should be the "Latest updates", which I think should get its own section.

There are other groups that should be eliminated and have lost their usefulness, such as "Prog trivia".

If we could combine some things and make space, go for it.

Dez - isn't the other shout box applicable to your purpose? It's used a lot for 1:1 conversations. Plus I think you can still chat privately (I haven't used it in a long time).

Problem with the other shout box (formerly the white room) is that there is no permanence there...The population changes throughout the 24 hour day and perhaps on some topics, ie. one started in the morning, would still be present at say...04:00 GMT for evening discussion...

Re: Non-musical subjects

On most of the forums that I have seen they have a Gen Discussion section.Seems that these sections get more use in some cases than the music/band threads.I agree that I for 1 could missout on some of your discussions in the shout boxes.I know I'm a newbie but figured I'd add my 2cents just the same.Besides I really like it here and think I'll stay a while

OK. THis has been discussed before.

When I'm back from the Netherlands, I will create a "The Water Cooler" section. Let me know what you would like for some of the sub-headings.
I suppose one would be something like "G33K SP33K". Let me know.
