I'd say there's nothing wrong with pop at all, unless you're talking Top40 pop. There's great modern pop (Beulah, The Apples in Stereo, Benoit Pioulard and Architecture in Helsinki comes to my mind) but you gotta put some effort to find it.

Oh, and ABBA rocks. A lot. I'm not even joking.
