Re: What CD's Are you Playing RIght Now? Top 5

I don't usually post to this one, but since I've heard so many of late, and I don't know when they'll get their due play on my show, here's some of what I've recently got...

The Others - Tom Hyatt's band (Bass player for Echolyn). Vocals like Sylvan and Creed, music heavy but tasteful. It rocks.

Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura - How does he keep writing these songs? The first two songs (55 min lol) are brilliant. The secong two just pretty good.

Flor De Loto - Madre Tierra - I meant to buy the first one, but got this instead...next in the player.

Alex Skolnick Trio - Goodbye to Romance - A cut from this was on the Fusion reactor and coincidentally my friend got it for 3 bucks, Has jazz covers of songs like Detroit Rock City, war Pigs, and Pindall Wizard!

Tinyfish - great neo power prog.

Dave Kulju - Abstract Expression - Put out a CD in 2002 called "Electrum"..pleasant enough. But this blows my doors off. Instrumental and full with some riffing but incredibly tasteful. One of the best discs I've heard this year.

Headshear - A myspace band, recommended highly by Nadina. have heard three songs...crunchy rock, excellent.

Roine Stolt - Wall Street Voodoo....I have all of the FK but this is my fist foray into sololand.

Anekdoten - A Time of Day

Typical Anekdoten, they've really got into a groove. A must buy. Very pleased with this one.

Verchiel Reality (demo) - Get the record out quick! This is great! Gave these away at Nearfest...

Trettioariga Kriget - Elden Av Ar - I bought this because of Ljuset, which is one of my favorite songs...a solid CD.

The Jelly Jam - This one kicks my ass.

Beardfish - Sleeping In Traffic (Part 1) - Look for this one to be played next week.

The Tangent - Anything and everything.
The Who - Tommy
The Who - Who's next
The Who - Live at Leeds
Pink Floyd - Obscured by clouds
Pink Floyd - More

I know The Who might not be a "Moon Band" but Tommy should be IMHO.

playing Steely Dan today reminded me of time I did Quardaphenia. A lot of fun, but Tommy may not work due to the short songs and connectivity. i sure wouldn't want to hear the songs chopped up like that....but yes what a classic
