![]() ![]() There have been many great albums made over the last 50 years. Some have had quad gatefold sleeves etc and other have had inserts. Some have been weird some have been wild and some naughty. The question I want to know is what is the weirdst wildest wackiest naughtiest insert you have seen in a CD or LP. There are no rules okay. Stones and The Beatles can be included here. I have seen a few wierd inserts including an offer to win a mobile phone aka cell phone. But what about you? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well, one of my favorites is the original zipper cover for the Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers album. Unzip and for tighty whities. Too bad it wasn't a girl on the cover

The one I first remember was the Beatles "Yesterday and Today" butcher album - wish I had one!!!
My favorites are the '68 Hendrix UK version of "Electric Ladyland" with a nude harem, and the original '69 Blind Faith self-titled with a topless young girl holding a silver spaceship.

In keeping with content of the thread...... Cheech and Chong, Big Bamboo had a large rolling paper inside. We rolled it up with our favorite blend and smoked it down. Wish I had that album with all the items still intact today. Back then it wasn't about collecting stuff. It was about smoking it.

Santana's Live album "Lotus" had an amazing fold out gatefold sleve with loads of inserts. It took up half the floor when fully extended.
Hawkwind's "Space Ritual Alive" wasn't far off either. Actually it was pretty far out. Still is. |

There was a heavy rock band from Quebec called "Offenbach" that had an album called "Soap Opera" that could be cut and folded along the dotted lines to make a box of laundry detergent... Needles to say, you wouldn't do it because then you'd have nothing in which to store your record... Weird.

And I just remembered Rick Wakeman's "No Earthly Connection". I had the 8-track, so I couln't really understand the cover. I quote a review: "The album cover has an obscure circular picture of Rick on the front, and a similar image on the reverse. Inside the LP sleeve was a square of reflective foil, and instructions on how to roll it up, place it on the cover and thus see the images in all their glory. It must have seemed like a good idea at the time!" Or the pot must have been pretty good in those days :-D

Re: Weirdist Wackiest Wildest Naughtiest Insert In A LP Or CD
How about Tool's last 3 CD's.
Aenema had a bunch of creepy images on the inside that, when placed under the serrated transparent plastic case, would render them 3-D. Lateralus had a bunch of transparent images, created by Alex Grey, of a man. Each image focused on different systems of the body (circulatory, etc.) and you can place them on top of each other to get the complete man. The latest, 10,000 Days, has 3-D glasses incorporated into the case that you can use to view the images on the inside. Love 'em or hate em, you have to respect how much effort they put into their covers. |

Re: Weirdist Wackiest Wildest Naughtiest Insert In A LP Or CD
Roxy Music had an album cover showing two hotties in see-through underwear. I remember as a young lad not being able to look away!
Another would be Led Zepplin's last album with Bonham. (forget the name) It came in a brown wrapper. The album had a liner that was moisture activated so if you got some water on it it showed color. Found that out by dripping beer on it by mistake. |

Well, not naughty, but maybe wacky, certainly kinda geeky. Pat Metheny's Imaginary Day CD booklet has all these little pictures in it which form an image substitution cipher which can be decoded. And yes I decoded it, without the help of "teh internets" :P. Yeah OK I'm a geek. More info here:
