Brit Bands
I was reminded by anoither thread of a couple of British bands that never did much stateside and thought I'd make it my mission to introduce America to these excellent bands.
The Enid I've already mentioned. But I'll mention them again just to keep them front and center and here's some more info. The Enid's page "The only band on the planet to have successfully fused rock based music with the power, dynamics and scale of symphonic classical music. They are the absolute masters of their art and their achievements over more than twenty years of creative work set them apart from everything else which calls itself progressive." - The Guardian The other one which I think would fit well here is the Welsh Rock Band (that's almost an oxymoron) Man. Man's home site. Man's history Their style is more 70's prog. Guitar based with some complex arrangements and progressive structures. For me, their signature track is "Many are Called but Few get Up" which has one of the best executed false endings I've heard. Nearest stylistic comparison perhaps would be Wishbone Ash which I know is pretty popular here. Last edited by neilxt : 01-15-2004 at 09:27 PM. |

The Enid is currently at the top of my "next purchase" list - I just spent hundreds of dollars on Aural Moon CDs, so it will probably be a day or two
![]() Man I've heard of - I don't REALLY remember them. I'll try to check them out and get some - I seem to be remembering that they're worth getting... |

For me their signature tune is "Spunk Rock" from the first Greasy truckers album. 20+ minutes of guitar wizardry and great rhythms. Well worth checking out. That album also has Hawkwind, Magic Michael (the oddest track I've EVER heard), and Brinsley Schwarz. I bet Wizzz has heard Brinsley Schwarz. He probably played with them at some point. |

Give me an address to send it to and I'll spring for your first one. (hehehehe, like a drug addict - give 'em one to get 'em hooked; snigigigiger) N You can send the address here if you don't want to publish it. |

Greasy Truckers party.......
Found one on eBay and put in a bid.
If I'm successful it's yours Jim. I know you'll like the Man and the Hawkwind. The Magic Michael will, I think, be a No No and the Brinsley Schwarz likewise. Still be interested to know what you think. |
