The shameless King's X pimping continues. . .
For those who are not aware, King's X released their first live album this week, entitled Live All Over the Place. I just picked it up today listened to it until it started skipping at the very end of the second CD, so I guess I'll have to return it for another copy. Disc defects aside, it's a good album for people who like very raw bootleggish sounding live recordings. I'm not a big fan of live albums in general, unless the band does something that really elevates the material in the live setting. King's X manages to do that on some songs, but not so much on others, so this album is kind of hit and miss for me. I would have liked to have seen less emphasis on Black Like Sunday material and more songs from KX4 or Bulbous. Despite my track selection concerns, it does serve as a decent representation of what it's like to hear them live, with all the flubs and screw-ups included. I'd recommend it to King's X diehards and live album enthusiasts.

Ok, just got back from the site and here's the setlist:
1. Groove Machine 2. Dogman 3. Believe 4. Little Bit Of Soul 5. Complain 6. Over My Head 7. Manic Depression 8. Black Like Sunday 9. Finished 10. Screamer 11. Johnny Disc: 2 1. The Difference 2. (Thinking And Wondering) What I'm Gonna Do 3. Mr. Evil 4. Mississippi Moon 5. Goldilox 6. Everybody Knows A Little Bit 7. A Box 8. Talk To You 9. Visions 10. Cigarettes 11. Summerland 12. We Were Born To Be Loved 13. Moan Jam 14. Over My Head I haven't heard it yet, but why have "Over My Head" twice? I saw the two tours this came from and I'm wondering why not have another song that they played like "Black the Sky." That song owned live.

This album is kicking my ass! I love the energy that it conveys, much like the live experience. They manage to be metal and melodic at the same time, which is no small fete. The opening 2 songs (Groove Machine and Dogman) are so cool that I have played them about 10 times in the last 2 days. This is something I haven't done since I used to get Beatles 45s.

Rick, you'll like the new stuff. Sounds like a cross between early proggier stuff and the experimental flair of Bulbous (at least live - who knows what the album will sound like).
