AM of Satellite

I love Sirius and they have a lot of great Classic Rock tunes, but no Pog Rock bands. Would you like to hear A.M. on Sirius?

Sirius seriously sucks serious schlong!

I would never listen to any product that would tout having Howard Stern on its billing.

..and if anything, go for XMSR.

Re: AM of Satellite

lol - you wouldn't patronize the channel that brings you Stern, but you'd patronize the channel that brings you the dispicable Dr. Laura, Mr Watergate G. Gordon Liddy and (although I love them, many people don't) Opie and Anthony?

I have XM and I had it since its inception. I don't think these people were on the service when I signed up. I don't listen much these days so I don't know. I keep it around for the occasional "live in studio" events that they transmit. For example, I was in XM studios 23 June 2005 as a guest invited by Marillion for the session they performed there.

PRoNJ doesn't have radio of its own; it's bombarded by the radio of NYC. For a city that bills itself as the greatest city on earth, it has some really gawd awful radio and radio personalities. The worst: Howard Stern. I could hear one of his shows -- the transexual dial-a-date or the biggest-bimbo-butt competition -- and turn off for a year to tune back in a year later and swear I'm listening to the same show. I really don't see the big attraction to Stern. Unless you're sexually depraved or deprived -- wherein I see where you might get your jollies listening to Stern who, like you, can't get any unless his promoters or booking agents pay some bimbo to strip in the studio for you -- there's nothing in a Howard Stern show that's worth listening to when there so much great music you could be listening to instead.

Re: AM of Satellite

A lot of "crappy" stations hit on some good stuff sometimes. XM also had a great Yes show and an excellent Porcupine Tree. But those and the Marillion are three of how many?

Just because Sirius has Stern doesn't mean they don't have other worthwhile programming. They're just making money.

I was subjected to Stern in college (Univ of MD close to DC), and the Greaseman. And a lot of those radio personalities from NYC were imported into other cities. Although I never had the displeasure of hearing Don Imus, I heard more Don and Mike than I care to remember.

I don't begrudge anyone for liking Howard Stern (myself I can take or leave it). But I don't see anything different between that and South Park or Drawn Together or any other show. It's all the same, really.

Speaking of shows, does anyone remember a "talk show comedy" called "Night Stand" a few years back (Timothy Stack was the host). That was funny ass show. Itwas a end-up of Springer, Ricki Lake, etc.

I know a friend of mine likes the XM feature where you can get every baseball game. The punk station was kind of fun too. There's something for everyone, but not enough of it for our tastes.

There have been many more.

Yes it does! (queue "The Argument" sketch)

The Music Lab is as close to being the XM "Prog" station. It's eclectic if there's any one definition for it. Too much Phish but other than that, it's not bad. The Fine Tuning channel is also very good. This is the channel that carries most of the better XM Studio Live features. There's also a station called Deep Tracks which is very much like 70s/80s AOR stations -- more commercial but the occasional twists into something that is obscure to the general population.

People that I've talked to who have both services (Sirius & XM) say that they find no programming channels like the ones I've mentioned on Sirius radio.

AM is free and beats the pants off of either of these pay-for services many times over.

Re: AM of Satellite

Which makes it so much more likely that Siruis would need something like us!

Siruis is home to my all time favorite political (left) talk show - The Young Turks.

Jill Pike, one co-host of the show (it's a three person show).

Re: AM of Satellite

not to advertise the competition, but XM has a pretty decent
prog station- "MUSIC LAB" w/ bill evans-

http://www.xmradio.com/programming/c...page.jsp?ch=51

considering Oasis cd manufacturing has programming of their artists
on XM...sometimes really god-awful..
.. i don't see why you'd have to stoop to sirius.

write them and talk figures. tell them you had to expand your server..
you may be surprised.

that'd be awesome to have AM in the car.

cheers and a happy 2006 to the moonies!
