Show 79 - Rosfest 2006

As was the case last year, we'll sample most of the acts appearing at the Rites of Spring Festival, 2006.

Lots of long pieces on the show....

Ephemeral Sun - A Song for Twilight

Got this from the Rosfest site. A great song, very powerful. Could have seen them a few years back but didn't know who they were.

Pineapple Thief - Remember Us

Another band not that familiar to me, but all I hear are good things. Another epically long piece.

Mirthrandir - Conversation With Personality Giver

A quirky piece from a band that put out one record in 1976. Sort of like Yezda Urfa at Nearfest last year, a "one hit prog wonder" Alan Benjamin from Advent will be on guitar.

Pallas - Cross And The Crucible, The Last Angel

Nice title cut from their 2001 CD, and another epic from the latest, "The Dreams of Men".

Hamadryad - Action, 24

Two cuts from the French Canadian powerhouse.

The Watch - Damage Mode, ...And the Winner Is...

Two from the Day Two headliner. Not my cup of tea, but I'm serving you guys!

Magic Pie - Change

A terrific song from the Day Two opening act. Don't be too hungover, Rosfest goers! Twenty minutes (and five seconds) of power.

Karmakanic - Wheel of Life, One Whole Half

First cut is from the record of the same name, which I've added for the Moon. Second cut is an instrumental. The records are a bit uneven, but Jonas Reingold and Krister Jonsson are monsters, and it was great to see them with the Tangent last year.

Satellite - The Evening Wind
On The Run
Midnight Snow
Now
A Street Between Sunrise and Sunset

Five from their 2003 record. They'll be headlining Day One. I'd just recently heard them, and I must say, what a band! The keyboards are wonderful! And a band member named Wojtek

Midnight Snow is a beautiful song.

A great Polish band...between them and Riverside that's two great acts from Poland.

Enjoy the show!

Re: Show 79 - Rosfest 2006

I recently (yesterday) purchased the Ephemeral Sun cd thri iTunes music store for $9.99 and I can highly recommend it. Great vocals from their angelic singer with some great musicians behind her. I can't wait to see them at ROSfest.

The Magic Pie song Rick is playing is a great 20 minute song also. This is the only song I have heard from this band, but I am looking forward to hearing more.

Now if only Riverside could get their dates crossed and show up and play at ROSfest oh well.

If you haven't sampled Pineapple Thief, please do. Mossy turned me and a few other moonies on to them and their last 2 cds are masterpieces.

Rick the man on rollerskates

I've just got a new one form the Polish band Believe with Robert Sieradski and Mirek Gil who comes from Collage. Very intensive progressive rock I say and just up your street.

Pineapple Thief were and are great in the studio. I saw them opening for Marillion and live PT were, well, lackluster. It was their first live performance so I hope they've polished up the act. I'm hoping to have my pix appear on MORE Live @ CDs...

Be sure to pick up Cryptic Vision's Live at ROSfest and now, Kino's "Cutting Room Floor"... somebody adorned the pages of these CDs with some excellent photogaphy!

VAX -- who will be quite busy this ROSfest as an official photographer for the event!
