Re: Steely Dan

what's your favorite? I like The Royal Scam. The Caves of Altimira is a perfect three minute song..... may have to do a Dan show....but much later on...

Kid Charlemagne for sure. I saw an interview with Larry Carlton where he said he did that solo in one take!
Aja: Another great one. Steve Gadd's Grammy winning drum work on that tune is unbelievable.
I agree Caves of Altamira: great
Actually there are very few SD songs that I wouldn't listen to over and over.
BTW: Larry Carlton would be a great artist for the Moons' collection.

Carlton's Kid Charlemagne solo is one of the few solos I've bothered to learn note for note, one of the greats to be sure. But as for favorites, I dunno, I like (and own) them all, in fact I've really liked the last two records quite well, so maybe they are my current favorites just because they are still newer to me, but that opinion could change when the wind changes direction

Re: Steely Dan

I've heard that the lead on Kid C is considered one of the greatest....

ok I'll do one, maybe June.....

I may set it up like the Saga show, where i just put the entire set list in sentence form....there could be fun stories about Fezzes and Gold Teeth...

Re: Steely Dan

Steely Dan for me is awesome. But when you have to 'classify' it, I can't put it into prog. But I love the Dan.

Now, that said, Fagan & Becker, the core of SD are inspirations to prog musicians everywhere. As well as prog listeners. A special show from the Rickmeister would be a very fitting tribute. IMHO.

Just don't ask Katy. We all know she's a liar.

I don't remember how many times I've seen them live, but they are great.
Just last summer I saw them at Jones Beach Theater up here on L.I.
Michael McDonald joined them after he opened the show.
Don't miss the show!
