Re: WORST Album Cover Artwork

Zappa's Orchestral Favorites or Studio Tan have that awful drawing...but I think that was intentional as they were record company contractuals.

If you go for ugliness, try Black Sabbath's "Born Again" (the one with Gillian). That "thing" on the cover is hideous.

Just read on that link that Bev Bevan went on that tour....Jim's favorite drummer!

U.K. Concert Classics Vol.4

The cover looks like it was done in five minutes using Microsoft Paint.
It also features a nice little picture of sweaty Bruford.
The print quality is also a major let down. The resolution is really low...I am not even sure whether my copy is a pirate or not...

Forget all the shrunken heads and badly-painted evil babies, nothing makes me want to puke so much as the front cover of Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Love Beach...

They never really have spent a lot of time/money on their covers, except for Brain Salad Surgery.

Some Sabbath artwork, on the other hand, is relatively well done. The covers of the debut album and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, for example.

Many years ago I copied the cover of Vol 4, or the figure of Ozzy, using the grid technique. The modest drawing, quite a bit larger than the CD cover it was copied from, is still on the wall in my old home, at my father.

Honorary 'worst album cover' mention, however, must go to Sabotage - Bill Ward's 'paunch and red tights' look is absolutely unique

Re: WORST Album Cover Artwork

Just pulled out my copy of Gryphon's LP "Midnight Mushrumps". That cover is pretttty bad. The album title doesn't have much going for it either, but that's another topic.
